Warranty Policy

Our warranty process supports fair assessment of products and repairs while preserving every right provided by South African law.

Effective date: 26 August 2026 · Last updated: 26 August 2026

1. Consumer rights come first

This policy operates alongside the Consumer Protection Act and other applicable law. It does not replace, reduce or exclude any statutory warranty or remedy that applies to your purchase.

2. New devices and accessories

New products may include a manufacturer or supplier warranty. Its period and conditions can differ by brand and product and will be stated on the product, invoice, packaging or warranty documentation where available.

Keep your proof of purchase and the device serial or IMEI information. Manufacturer assessment procedures may apply, but they do not remove rights that the law gives you against the supplier.

3. Repair workmanship and parts

Completed repair work and parts fitted by Smart Gadget carry the warranty required by applicable law—at least three months after installation or a longer period stated in writing, where applicable. The warranty covers the specific authorised repair and replaced part, not unrelated faults.

If the same repaired fault returns during the applicable warranty period, contact us promptly and stop using the device if further use could cause damage.

4. What is generally not covered

To the extent permitted by law, a warranty does not cover a fault caused after supply or repair by:

  • Accidental, impact, pressure, liquid, fire, surge or environmental damage.
  • Misuse, neglect, improper installation or failure to follow instructions.
  • Unauthorised opening, modification, repair or incompatible third-party parts.
  • Network, account, software or accessory issues unrelated to the covered product or repair.
  • Normal cosmetic wear or normal reduction in consumable or battery capacity.
  • A different underlying fault not included in the accepted repair quote.

We will not reject a valid statutory claim merely because a general exclusion is listed here; the actual cause and applicable law will be considered.

5. Making a warranty claim

  1. Contact us with your order, invoice or repair quote number and describe the fault.
  2. Provide photos, video or diagnostic details if requested.
  3. Follow the collection or return instructions and package the device safely.
  4. Allow reasonable time for inspection and testing.

Where a claim is valid, the available remedy may be repair, replacement, refund or another solution required by law. If testing shows an unrelated or excluded cause, we will explain the finding and obtain approval before any chargeable work.

6. Protecting your data

Back up important data and remove personal information where practical before submitting a device. Diagnostics or repairs may require reset, software installation or part replacement. We take reasonable care but cannot guarantee preservation of data on a faulty device.
